• The report released estimates on multidimensional poverty in 109 developing countries, including 26 low-income, 80 middle-income and 3 high-income countries.
Some special points of this index:
• 1.3 billion out of 5.9 billion people in 109 countries are multidimensionally poor (about 21.7%)
• Nearly half (644 million) are children under the age of 18. While 105 million are 60 years of age or older.
• In India, five out of six multidimensionally poor people belong to divergent tribes or castes.
